As you probably already know, the hospitality industry is very broad. You can get jobs in hotels, resorts, restaurants, casinos, theme parks and cruise lines. You might have an entry-level job at the beginning, yet you get the chance to work yourself up to get promoted and become a managerial role that carries out more responsibilities.
Another important factor to consider in this industry is that a lot of the positions involve dealing with customers face-to-face. If you decide you want to be working in hotels or restaurants make sure that you are a peoples-person. Of course there are also positions that operate behind-the-scenes like sales, marketing, and accounting, as well as food production and food service jobs. Nonetheless, there is something that all positions have in common: helping customers during their leisure time and providing them with anything they might need or desire.

Concierge: is an employee of a multi-tenant building, such as a hotel or apartment building, who receives guests. A concierge should be a problem solver because they are the ones the customers go to whenever clients have concerns or problems. Other front-of-the-house hospitality jobs include:
Housekeeper: is the department in charge of cleaning guest rooms and areas before, during and after a guest has used a hotel’s room/areas. Their services are paid for by the guest through their purchase and rent of the room. The housekeeping department usually has an Executive Housekeeper, an Assistant Executive Housekeeper, Floor Manager and a Housekeeper. Without these employees, a hotel’s common areas and rooms would never be clean. Other related housekeeping job titles include:
Executive Chef: Also referred to as the chef manager or head chef, the executive chef is the leader in charge of everything that goes out of the kitchen and maintains full control of the kitchen staff at all times. From small restaurant operations staffed by a handful of cooks to massive industrial kitchens staffed by a large number of chefs and culinary assistants, executive chefs are given the responsibility of resolving any problems efficiently to serve exceptional cuisine. Waiter/Waitress: also called servers, work in full-service restaurants. They greet customers, take food orders, bring food and drinks to the tables and take payment and make change. Other responsibilities of a waiter/waitress include greeting and serving customers, providing detailed information on menus, and multi-tasking various front-of-the-house duties.
